The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, November 24, 2009 John William Thurman, 89, of Mayer, Ariz., died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, in Prescott, Ariz. He was born Jan. 18, 1920, in Chicago, Ill., to John and Matilda Thurman. John served in the United States Army and was a WWII Veteran. He retired from Western Electric, aka AT&T. He is survived by his wife, Patricia R. Thurman; sons Thomas and Patrick Thurman; sister Dorothy Gilbert; one granddaughter; one grandson; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with a Celebration of Life service with Military Honors starting at 10:30 a.m. Friday Nov. 27, 2009, at Sunrise Funeral Home Chapel, 8167 E. Highway 69, Prescott Valley. Burial will be at the Heritage Memorial Park Cemetery in Dewey, Ariz., with a reception to follow at the Mayer Recreation Center, 1001 Wicks Ave., Mayer, Ariz. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Yavapai County Food Bank, or bring food donations to the funeral service.
