Helen (Heidi) Haas (Humphrey) McLernon - Haas

Helen "Heidi" Haas, 103, died Nov. 15, 2009 at home in Tucson, Ariz.

She was born Aug 6, 1906 in Palo Alto, Calif. to Harry and Olive (Mealey) Humphrey, lived most of her childhood in Maryland where she graduated from George Washington University in 1929 and moved to Arizona to enroll in the U of A to work on a masters in botany.

In 1931 she married John McLernon. Heidi lived in Arizona 80 years; 44 of those years in Prescott where she raised her family and was active in the community with her family and many friends, Camp Fire Girls, Audubon Society, and Prescott Rod and Rifle Club. She loved Arizona, its beauty and diversity, as she rode, hiked and hunted throughout the state.

Survivors include Pat Greer of Glendale, Sheila Gerhart of Tucson, Cheryl Hollenbeck of Prescott and Ted Haas of Upland Calif.; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Roberta Farwell, a twin sister, four brothers and husbands, John McLernon and Harold Haas.

A private family memorial service will take place at a later date.
