Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ, Friday, February 7, 1941 FUNERAL HELD FOR MRS H. P. SULLIVAN The many friends of Mrs Marie K. Sullivan, wife of Mayor Harold P. Sullivan, were shocked and saddened by her death which occured Tuesday morning at the family home. Mrs Sullivan had been in poor health for several years, but she had been seriously ill only for the past several days. Death was attributed to a heart ailment. FUNERAL HELD WEDNESDAY Funeral services were conducted at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church at 10:30 Wednesday morning. Pallbearers were E. T. Nelson, H. P. Gobble, and C. C. Davis, town councilmen, and J. E. Watson, Hugh Hanne, and Neil Hanne. Local business establishments remained closed during the services. Mr and Mrs Elmer B. Kelly of Phoenix, close friends of the family remained in Wickenburg until Wednesday night. Mr Sullivan and daughter, Patsy departed Wednesday evening to accompany the body to St. Joseph, Mo. for burial. HERE SINCE 1927 Mrs Sullivan was born 37 years ago in St. Joseph, Mo., and had resided here since 1927. In spite of failing health she was active in civic and charitable work, particularly in behalf of veterans and members of their families. Mrs Sullivan was a past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and secretary of the Catholic Ladies Club. She was in charge of the annual distribution of Christmas baskets to needy veterans' families, in behalf of the auxiliaries for several years. She and Mr Sullivan were married June 3, 1923 in St. Joseph. DAUGHTER SURVIVES Surviving in addition to her husband, is a daughter, Patsy; her mother, Mrs Sophie Knopinski, and four sisters, Mrs John Rutherford, Mrs John Comello, Mrs E. A. Hans and Frances Knopinski all of St. Joseph. The sympathy of the community goes out to Mayor Harold P. Sullivan and Patsy Sullivan at the time of their bereavement. Mrs Sullivan's life was marked by her devotion to her family, her church and her friends. Her absence will leave a vacancy in the hearts of many friends.
