Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona Posted: Wednesday, Nov 25th, 2009 Mrs. Virginia Hunter, 91, of Peridot, Ariz., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 17 , 2009 at Banner Gardens Hospice in Mesa, Ariz. She was born on July 20, 1918, the daughter of Willie and Emma (Noline) Thinka. She previously lived in Illinois and lived in Arizona for 47 years. She was a nurse’s aid at San Carlos Indian Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund Hunter, in 2006; her sons, Gary, Glenn and Struvee Hunter; and her daughter, Veronica Cordts. She is survived by her daughters, Sylvia McBroom (Manuel) and Linda Hunter, both of Pinetop, Roberta Patten, of Globe, and Brenda Benavides and Loretta Hunter, both of Peridot; 20 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Virginia grew up in San San Carlos, married Edmund Hunter and they were married for 66 years. She moved to Pamona for several years, then relocated to Chicago and lived there for 10 years. She returned to San Carlos in 1962. She also worked as a librarian aid in San Carlos and at the laundromat. She enjoyed traveling, watching basketball and family outings to pick acorns. A wake will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, 2009 at Virginia Hunter’s residence in Peridot. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009 at Grace Lutheran Church in San Carlos. Interment at Northgate Cemetery. Assisting the family; Lamont Mortuary of Globe.
