The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Tuesday, January 7, 2003 James A. Laws, 66, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2003. His beloved wife, Barbara, and daughters Donna, Diane, Amy Roberts, and Stacey Trepanier survive Jim. He also leaves behind his sisters Joy Jones and Nancy Jackson and three grandsons, J.P., Parker, and Grant. Jim grew up in Kansas City, MO and graduated with an MBA from the University of Missouri where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. Afterward, Jim served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the artillery division of the Army while stationed in Germany. Jim then worked as mortgage banker and later helped pioneer the reverse mortgage business here in Arizona. In addition to being an active member of the Tempe Military Affairs Committee, Jim was also an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) representative. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 8th at 3:00 p.m. at the Mission Del Sol Presbyterian Church where Jim served as an elder for the past several years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mission Del Sol Presbyterian Church, 1565 East Warner Road, Tempe, Az., 85284. |
