The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, January 29, 2003 Edward John Yankowski, III, passed away Saturday, Jan. 25. He was born in Danbury, Conn., March 11, 1987. Eddie moved to the valley seven years ago with his parents, Ed and Ashley and his brother Zach Yankowski. He graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Scottsdale where he was a leader in the school's teen club. He was extremely active in "Friends of the Orphans" and for years sponsored an orphan in Mexico. He was currently attending Desert Mountain High School as a sophomore. An outdoor enthusiast, Eddie loved surfing at the beach in the summer and snowboarding in the mountains each winter. He is survived by his parents, Edward II, and Ashley, his brother, Zach, grandparents Patty and Scott Carpenter, grandmothers Helen Yankowski and Linda Fletcher, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 7655 E. Main St., Scottsdale. Funeral mass will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, also at OLPH, Scottsdale. Interment will be at St. Francis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Friends of the Orphans. P.O. Box 25507, Tempe, Az., 85285-5507.
