The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Tuesday, January 7, 2003 Cecilia Ortiz, 78, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away Friday, January 3, 2003. Born on November 2, 1924. Cecilia was a successfull entrepreneur in the restaurant business for over 50 years. A native of San Elizario, Texas Cecilia moved with her family to Phoenix, Arizona in 1952. Cecilia was preceded in death by her daughter, Gloria Ortiz Valenzuela; father, Antonio Sanchez; mother, Antonia Sanchez; sisters, Paulina Martinez and Eliza Martinez. She is survived by her husband, Daniel "Eloy" Ortiz; sons, Daniel Ortiz Jr. (Mary), Jose Arturo Ortiz, Samuel Ortiz (Ursula); her daughters, Priscilla Valdez (Dave), Rosemary Lopez (Manuel Luna), Anita Ortiz-Schembri, Rebecca Ortiz (Tony Gonzalez), 25 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tony, Efrian, Samuel, Ben and David Sanchez; sisters, Luisa Martinez, Lucila Alvidrez and Rufina Trevizo. Mom gave us a lifetime of memories, and will be greatly missed by all family and friends. Rosary and memorial mass will be held at Saint Catherine of Siena Church, 6200 South Central Ave. Rosary Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Restheaven cemetary. |
