The Yuma Arizona Sun, Yuma, Arizona Friday, January 31, 2003 Nelle L. Kumley was born on March 26, 1940 in Trinidad, Colorado. She went home to be with the Lord on January 24, 2003. Her "Going Home Celebration" will be on January 31, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Christian Center in Pinetop, Arizona. Nelle is survived by her husband, of 46 years, Charles Kumley, Jr.; daughters Esther L. Schmid, husband Don R., Ruthey Phillips, husband Walter R.; sons Charles J. Kumley, wife Christina and James W. Kumley; six grandchildren, one step-grandchild, two sisters, one brother, and also by her parents Clara Mae McAtee and Ernest T. Knox and one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law, 27 nieces and nephews, 26 great-nieces and nephews and three great-great-nieces and nephews. Nelle loved her family and friends. She and her husband were missionaries to the Navajos in Sanders, Arizona for over ten years and in Concho, Arizona for three years and pastored in the Assembly of God Church in Canyon Day, Arizona for over five years. Nelle loved her family and friends, she and her husband of 46 years were missionaries to the Navajo in Sanders for over 10 years and pastored in the Assembly of God Church in Canyon Day for five years. Her heart was in the Missions wanting to win the whole world for the Jesus she held so dear and close to her heart. Nelle is survived by her spouse, Charles Kumley, Jr.; daughter Esther Louise (Kumley) Schmid with husband Don R., P. Ruthey (Kumley) Phillips with husband Walter R.; sons, Charles Jacob Kumley III with wife Christina, James W. Kumley (Jim); father Ernest T. Knox; mother, Clara Mae McAtee; sisters Geraldeane Knox, Margaret (Phil) Tilt; brother, Ronnie (Dorothy) McAtee; sister-in-law, Carol (Earl) McKay; brother-in-law, Lorin Kumley; grandchildren, Jessica Louise Schmid, Jonathan R. Schmid, Justin B. Schmid, Cheyanne J. Kumley, Christopher J. Kumley and one step granddaughter Jennifer Tweeten; along with 27 nieces and nephews; 26 great nieces and nephews and three great-great nieces and nephews. A going home celebration will be held at the Blueridge Christian Center Friday, Jan. 31 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Taylor City Cemetery.
