Verda M. Benson 91, entered into eternal life with Jesus on Jan. 16, 2003 after a long period of illness. Verda Smith was born on January 18, 1911 in Carbon Cliff, Illinois.

On September 21, 1938, she was united in marriage to James L. Benson, also of Carbon Cliff. This wonderful Christian couple had two children, Dennis & Kathleen. In September of 1954, Dennis was called into eternal rest at the age of nine years. On June 26, 1990 Jim, Verda's husband of 51 years, was summoned to his heavenly home.

Verda is survived by her daughter Kathleen Page, her granddaughter, Marianne and her son-in-law, Steve Page all of Peoria. Other survivors include her devoted friend, Betty Cannon of Phoenix, and her dear childhood friend, Catherine Gainey of Carbon Cliff, Illinois.

Mom, you and dad, gave me such a rich legacy of faith, there is no greater gift to give. I know mom, that it has been the desire of your heart to be with Jesus, your desire has now been fulfilled. You are with Him, healed and forever in peace.

Memorial services was January 24, 2003 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 6301 W. Indian School Rd. Phoenix, Az.
