Foch Phillips

Foch Phillips, age 83, passed away at Cobre Valley Community Hospital in Globe, Arizona on Thursday, January 23, 2003. Mr. Phillips was born on May 12, 1919 in Burnsville, North Carolina, grew up there and graduated from Bee Log, North Carolina High School.

He came to Arizona in 1939 and resided in McNary where he worked for Southwest Forest Industries as a mechanic until 1973.

He served in the U.S. Army from March 1941 until November 1945. He served in Europe during World War II and received a Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Clusters for Valor.

He married Emily L. Brown in St. Johns in January 1947.

Upon leaving Southwest Forest Industries in 1973, he moved to Roosevelt, AZ and worked for the Inspiration Consolidated Copper Co. until he retired in 1984. He moved to Kearny in 1988 where he lived the remainder of his life.

He was a member of VFW Post 7120 in Kearny and enjoyed his family, watching the Phoenix Suns, gardening and fixing things.

He is survived by his wife; Emily of Kearny, his children; Alma and Carol, Sheila and Samuel and Guy and Deloras. He is also survived by three brothers, one sister, grandchildren; Connie, Melissa, Maria, Nicole, Liberty, Gyann, Jon and Clay and great-grandchildren; Rhianna, Nicole, Kenneth, Eryn, Emily and Hannah as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 27, 2003 at the Lakeside Cemetery, Lakeside, Arizona with Rev. Arthur Guenther officiating.

Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 2364 of Pinetop, Arizona.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fletcher's Mortuary of Show Low.

Grave side services were held Monday, Jan. 27, 2003 at the Lakeside Cemetery, Lakeside with Rev. Arthur Guenther officiating. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 2364 of Pinetop.

Donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 2929 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix, AZ 85016.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fletcher's Mortuary of Show Low.
