The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Tuesday, January 28, 2003 Barbara Lavern Pierce, 59, entered into eternal life in Heaven on Friday January 24th, 2003. Barbara was born in San Diego, Calif. on February 1, 1943 and passed away in the arms of her family in Litchfield Park, Az. Barbara was a loving wife for 34 years, mother of five children and a passionate volunteer. In 1969 Barbara married Phil Pierce who would be her soul mate and best friend for 34 years. They raised their five children and made many life-long friends in Buckeye, Az. before moving to Douglas, Az. in 1986. Barbara continued to touch many lives, as she was the manager of the local Chamber Of Commerce and Vice President of the local art gallery. She volunteered for many organizations including: Douglas Manor, Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children, Cochise County Victim Witness, volunteered at the local hospital, was a substance abuse counselor for Cochise County and worked with the developmentally disabled as a life trainer. Barbara is survived by her beloved husband Phil, daughters Danelle Farris (Guy), Ronda Cronin (Michael), Deanna Thellmann, and son Kelly (Queta). She also leaves four grandchildren, Carrisa Thellmann, Mckenna Farris, Clare Cronin, Lauren Pierce, and one great-grandson, Seann Steele. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Jean James, her sister Sandra Edgemon and brother Charles James and son, Larry Pierce. Visitation will be held Tuesday January 28th at The Church at Litchfield Park, 300 N. Old Litchfield Rd, Litchfield Park, Az. 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will also be held at the Church at Litchfield Park on Wednesday January 29th at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice Of The Valley in honor of Barbara at 1510 E. Flower St. Phoenix, Az., 85014. Thanks to Hospice of the Valley for keeping Mom pain free and allowing us to care for her at home. |
