The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Tuesday, January 28, 2003 Jim E. Vickonoff, 86, born July 17, 1916 in Los Angeles, Calif. passed away Jan. 24, 2003 in Peoria, Arizona. He served his country in the Navy during WWII. His life work was as a carpenter. He helped build air bases in several foreign countries. His retirement came in 1978 from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners in Los Angeles. He is survived by two daughters, Elaine (Bill) Bornn of Sun City, Sally Carr of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sons Alan (Helen) Vickonoff of Kona, Hi. and Jim Vickonoff of Grants Pass, Ore.; one brother; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Graveside service 11:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2003 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cavecreek Rd., Phoenix, Az. Menke Funeral Home handled arrangements. See Also: Find a Grave |
