The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, January 29, 2003 Alice L. Birmingham Adams was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 26, 2003. Born on December 13, 1930, Alice was a native Phoenician. Alice is survived by her loving husband John E. Adams, Jr.; her son Ronald Adams; daughters Mary Lou Zalot and Suzanne West; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Ruggles, Mrs. Merle White and Mrs. Norma Henderson. She attended Murphy Elementary and Phoenix Union High School. Married on April 1, 1950 she and her Johnny had been married almost 53 years. Alice was a woman with a generous heart, always ready to lend a helping hand. She expressed a particular compassion for the less fortunate and throughout her lifetime ministered to the needs of those who God placed in her path. As a friend she was sincere and loyal. Alice's greatest love was for her family. She was a faithful caring wife, proud mother, doting daughter, companion to her sisters, and beloved matriarch to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Words cannot accurately reflect her heart, but only the essence of who she truly was. Her laugh, her smile, the sweet spirit deep inside, the hug that only she could give will be missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved her.
