| Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ April 10, 1959, p. 1 Rites Pending For Mrs. Bulger Funeral services in St. Anthony's Catholic Church are pending for Mrs. Catherine Bulger. Burial will be in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Mrs. Bulger died at 3:07 a. m. Wednesday in Community Hospital after an illness of only three days. Born in Luxembourg November 15, 1887, she carne to the United States at the age of 3 when her parents settled in Chicago. After reaching adulthood, she operated a delicatessen there. Forty-five years ago she moved to Phoenix where she married James Bulger whom she had known in Chicago. These were pioneer days and when the couple visited California they traveled across the desert by wagon over a plank road. Mr. & Mrs. Bulger resided in Phoenix, the Verde Valley and Jerome before coming to Wickenburg in 1935. In Jerome they operated the Connor Restaurant. Here they ran the Texas Cafe from 1935 through 1941. Mrs. Bulger worked at the Frontier Inn for four years and was on the staff of Community Hospital for several years. Survivors include the husband; two sons, Steve and Ted, both of Wickenburg; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Hagle and Mrs. Margaret Schmidt both of Chicago; two brothers, John Junius and Pete Junius, both of Chicago; and four grandchildren. ------------------------------------------- Wickenburg (AZ) Sun Friday, April 17, 1959, p 1 & 8 Rites Monday For Mr. & Mrs. Bulger Double funeral services were conducted in St Anthony's Catholic church Monday morning for Mr. & Mrs. James Bulger after which the two were buried side by side in Wickenburg Cemetery, Rev D. F. O'Sullivan officiated. Mrs. Catherine Bulger died in Community Hospital the afternoon of April 8. Two days later, while arrangements were being made for her funeral, her husband died suddenly in his sleep. The services were then changed from Saturday to Monday so that they could be held together. Mrs. Bulger was born in Luxembourg November 15, 1887, and came to the United States at the age of 3 when her parents settled in Chicago. Mr. Bulger was born Febraury 8, 1883 in Pittsburgh Pa., and moved to Chicago as a young man. It was there the two met when Mr. Bulger worked in a delicatessen operated by the woman who was later to become his wife. Both moved to Phoenix at about the same time 45 years ago and it was there they were married. They resided in the Verde Valley and Jerome before coming to Wickenburg in 1935. In Cottonwood, Mr. Bulger was in the produce business. At that time he hauled in supplies by mule train over the old Black Canyon Highway. Later the couple operated the Connor Restaurant in Jerome and from 1935 to 1941 they operatd the Texas Cafe here. They retired in 1941 and made their home in Fisher addition. Surviving are two sons, Steve and Ted of Wickenburg, and four grandchildren. Mr. Bulger is also survived by a brother, William Bulger of Pittsburgh. Mrs. Bulger is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Hagle and Mrs. Margaret Schmidt, and two brothers, John Junius and Pete Junius, all of Chicago. See Also: Find a Grave |
