Prescott (AZ) Journal Miner Wednesday, December 23, 1925 W. J. Gilbert, guest of the Pioneers' Home, died at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon in his 74th year. Mr. Gilbert came to Arizona in July, 1885 and first settled at Flagstaff. He later moved to Wickenburg, where he entered application for admission to the home, which was granted on June 8, 1922, and on the following July 12 he arrived at the home. He was the son of Eli Gilbert and Mary Engle of Ohio, and was born in April, 1851. The deceased is survived by a wife and several sons and daughters, living at Long Beach, Calif. Communication with a brother, William Gilbert at Los Angeles the day before when Superintendent Hall of the home deemed it advisable to notify relatives of Mr Gilbert's impending decease, was without result, but examination of his effects disclosed a letter from the daughter, and in that way the family was communicated with. The funeral arrangements will depend on the decision of the relatives and will be announced probably today. same date-- W. J. Gilbert, a resident of Arizona since 1885, and a guest at the Pioneer's Home since July 12, 1922, died at the home yesterday afternoon about 5 o'clock at the age of 74. On coming to Arizona, Mr Gilbert first lived in Flagstaff, after which he moved to Wickenburg, where he resided until he was admitted to the Pioneer's Home. The deceased is survived by a wife and several sons and daughters in California, who have been notified, and funeral arrangements will await the decision of the family. Mr Gilbert and his family made their home here for many years and were well known by the old residents. Mr. Gilbert left Wickenburg about three years ago and has resided at the home since that time.
