The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, January 29, 2003 Beth L. McPeek died January 25, 2003, in Sun City West, Arizona. She was born May 8, 1935, in Stockton, Illinois to Robert L. and Elsie (Wixson) McPeek. Beth moved to Sun City in 1978. In 1982, she founded Professional Community Services (PCS), a private fiduciary service. She set a high standard for other similar businesses to follow. Beth received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Education from Monmouth College, where she was also a member of Alpha XI Delta sorority. She received a Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling, plus a Doctoral degree in Psychology and Education with a minor in Business Management from Indiana University. Her Postdoctoral work was at National Training Laboratories (Human Relations and Group Dynamics). She taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels (part-time) in ten different universities from 1961-1983. She has memberships in numerous editions of Who's Who and has received recognition and honors such as Outstanding Young Alumnus Award from Monmouth College, Outstanding Young Women of America and distinguished Women of Illinois. She began her professional career as Associate Dean of Students at Millikin University, Decatur, Illinois, and at the time she was the youngest Dean in the country. Her professional experience includes over fifty years of extensive and highly responsible positions in business, industry, health, education, clinical and rehabilitation services. Beth is a lady to be remembered. All of us that know her know that her word was all that was necessary. People trusted her and her judgment. She never backed down from her convictions. She saw something in us that we often did not see in ourselves, and she nurtured it. Simplicity-even in expressing profound academic concepts-marked her style. Beth is survived by her sisters, Mae Grebner and Betty (Donald) Hook, Stockton, Ill., long time friend and business partner, Audrey Hanks, Sun City, niece Jerilyn Miller, Charlotte, N.C., nephew, Donn Hook, Burbank, Calif., aunt, Ruth Beyer, Stockton,Ill. and her Sun City family, Josephine and Slater Hanks. Beth was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Stockton, Illinois. A memorial service will be Friday, January 31, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunland Lakeside Chapel, Sun City, Arizona.
