The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, January 29, 2003 Leslie D. Smith, Jr., 77, of Strawberry, Arizona, passed away January 26, 2003. Leslie was born September 5, 1925 in Los Angeles, California. He was a World War II veteran in naval aviation, and a retired fire fighter/engineer for the City of Phoenix. He was a member of United Fire Fighter's Association, Phoenix Local 493, VFW Post 01760 of Mesa and American Legion 0069 of Payson. Survivors include wife, Mitchelyn M. Smit, Strawberry, Az.; daughter, Linda Garcia, Phoenix, Az.; son, Scott Smith, Phoenix, Az.; sister, June Elliott, Carson City, Nev; step-children, Tom Fink, Phoenix, Az., Cindy Valero of Phoenix, Az.; five grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 31, 2003, Strawberry Chapel in the Pines, 8579 Fossil Creek Road, Strawberry, AZ. Family requests donations to: RTA Hospice, 107 E. Frontier Street, Payson, Arizona. Arrangements entrusted to Messinger Payson Funeral Home. |
