West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona February 6, 2009 Michael George Filliman, 78, of Litchfield Park died of cancer Jan. 30, 2009. Mr. Filliman was born April 22, 1930, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, and moved to Arizona in 1977. He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1948. He went on to receive a bachelor's degree in political science and master's degree. He enlisted in the Air Force at age 22 and was a fighter pilot. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He was the Wing Commander of Myrtle Beach AFB in South Carolina. He retired as a colonel after 25 years in the Air Force. He then worked in real estate in Arizona. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; two daughters, Amy Isenhour of Sherills Ford, N.C. and Beth Farmer of Durango, Colo.; one son, Mark of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Marie Gions and Kathy Ohnemus; one brother, Paul Filliman; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014 |
