West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona February 7, 2009 Virgie Naomi Goodwin, 88, of Cathedral City, Calif., and formerly Buckeye died Feb. 22, 2009, in Cathedral City. Mrs. Goodwin was born March 28, 1920, in Phoenix to Calvin F. and Artie Martin Dryer. She grew up in Liberty and attended Liberty Elementary School and Buckeye Union High School. She went to Arizona State University and obtained a teaching certificate. She was a teacher in Safford where she met and married her husband, Wilford. The couple moved to Buckeye where she taught until her retirement. She is survived by her daughter, Nina Lei Marie; one son, Leon Eugene of Buckeye; one sister, Shirlia Green of Phoenix; one brother, Hobert Dryer of Hidden Valley, Calif.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilford. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Lifeway Church, 18926 W. Latham St. in Buckeye. The Rev. George Molina will officiate. Interment will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix. Ganley's Buckeye Funeral Home made the arrangements. See Also: Find A Grave |
