Arizona Weekly Journal-Miner May 1887 Samuel S. Shull, a stock man of the Mogollon Mountains, shot down in his Cabin Sheriff Mulvenon received a telegram this afternoon, from Henry Mehrens, at Camp Verde, stating that Samuel S. Shull, a well known stock man of the Mogollon mountains, had been found dead in his cabin, shot through the head with a shot gun. His ranch was bout two miles west of the Pine Springs, on the Mogollons, thirty miles above Beaverhead, on the old stage road. No particulars of the affair are given, but it is known that about a week ago Shull had trouble with one of his neighbors, whom he beat pretty severely. On receipt of the news Sheriff Mullvenon immediately started to the scene of the murder, and will institute a thorough investigation. Deceased formerly in Prescott and owned property here, where he was known. He was 38 years old.
