Joseph T. III Castles

Joseph T. Castles III, 79, a Tombstone politician and Arizona resident for 48 years, died in Tucson on Monday, Jan. 17, 1994.

Castles was mayor of Tombstone for six years during the 1960s and was a justice of the peace there.

He had been a member of the Elks Lodge in Show Low and the Desert Mariners in Tucson.

He is survived by his wife, Constance, of Tucson; three daughters, C.J. Castles of Phoenix, Roseanne Thompson of Tucson and Gail Ledbetter of Panama City, Fla.; two sons, Tony Castles of Tucson and Jay Connelly of New Jersey; sister Lillian Strode of Los Alamos, N.M.; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Friday, Jan. 21, 1994, at South Lawn Mortuary & Cemetery, 5401 S. Park Ave. A memorial service was held Saturday at the Episcopal Church in Tombstone.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Shriners Crippled Children's Transportation Fund.
