| Joseph T. Castles III, 79, a Tombstone politician and Arizona resident for 48 years, died in Tucson on Monday, Jan. 17, 1994. Castles was mayor of Tombstone for six years during the 1960s and was a justice of the peace there. He had been a member of the Elks Lodge in Show Low and the Desert Mariners in Tucson. He is survived by his wife, Constance, of Tucson; three daughters, C.J. Castles of Phoenix, Roseanne Thompson of Tucson and Gail Ledbetter of Panama City, Fla.; two sons, Tony Castles of Tucson and Jay Connelly of New Jersey; sister Lillian Strode of Los Alamos, N.M.; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Friday, Jan. 21, 1994, at South Lawn Mortuary & Cemetery, 5401 S. Park Ave. A memorial service was held Saturday at the Episcopal Church in Tombstone. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Shriners Crippled Children's Transportation Fund. Arizona Daily Star January 19, 1994 |
