Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ, Friday, March 23, 1951 PIONEER RESIDENT, IGNACIO (Ygnacio) GARCIA DIES. BORN IN EHRENBURG, [sic] HE CAME TO WICKENBURG IN 1879 Ignacio (Ygnacio) Garcia, Jr., who had the distinction of having lived in Wickenburg longer than any other individual, died in Community Hospital here Thursday morning. Mr Garcia was born in Ehrenberg [sic], Arizona, in 1872 and moved to Wickenburg in 1879. He was one of the 15 children of Ignacio [sic], Sr., who died in 1927. The mother died in 1938. Only four of these brothers and sisters survive. They are: Pete Garcia of Wickenburg, Gabe Garcia of Taft, Calif., Mrs Francisca Hernandez of Wickenburg, and Mrs Chonia Burson of Los Angeles. LEAVES SIX CHILDREN After the death of Mr Garcia's first wife, Manuela Castro he was married in 1943 to Rita Romero. Four children survive. They are: Igancio III, Billy and Mrs Mary Garcia, all of Los Angeles, Mrs Theodora Varela of Nogales, and Lucille Garcia and Mrs Jennie Ramirez of Wickenburg. A son, John, was killed in World War II. At the time The Sun went to press, funeral arrangements had not yet been made. ~~~~~~~~~ Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ, Friday, March 30, 1951 GARCIA FUNERAL MONDAY Services were held Monday morning of this week at St. Anthony's Catholic Church for Ignacio Garcia, 79-year-old pioneer resident who died March 22. The Rev. D. F. O'Sullivan, pastor of the church, conducted the rites. Burial followed in the Garcia Cemetery on the Prescott Highway. See Also: Find a Grave |
