Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona Saturday, December 05, 2009 Edith Sakiestewa, 88, of Window Rock, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at Flagstaff Medical Center. Mrs. Sakiestewa was born Feb. 15, 1921, in Phoenix. Her maternal clan was Hashtx-ishnii (Mud Clan). She served in World War II as a U.S. Army WAC, and she also served in the National Guard. She worked as a secretary. She enjoyed cooking and was an excellent seamstress and gardener. She is survived by her husband, Victor Sakiestewa Jr.; sisters Ruth and Dorothy Ann Blatchford; and brothers Benjamin and Robert Blatchford. She was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers and her parents. |
