The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona January 31, 2003 Kathleen Anne "Kay" Garrity, 70, of Phoenix, AZ, died January 29, 2003 after a long illness. Born August 29, 1932 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Dr. James C. and Norma (Marshall) Garrity. Kay graduated from St. John's school of nursing in Springfield, IL and did post graduate work at the University of Arizona. She worked at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, WI and at University Hospital in Galveston, TX before settling in Phoenix, which she dearly loved. She was employed by St. Joseph's Hospital for 37 years and reached the position of head nurse. Kay is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Ken and Carolyn Collard of Hedgesville, WV, nephews, Tim Collard of Westminster, MD and Joe Collard of Key West, FL, niece, Mary T. Collard of Owings Mills, MD and 10 grand-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a niece, Julia Reddinger of Ellicott City, MD. Kay was an avid world traveler with a passion for books and an eclectic collection of folk and classical music. A mass celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, February 4, at 11:00 A.M., at Most Holy Trinity Church, 8620 N. 7th Street.
