The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona January 31, 2003 Lydia E. Lowney passed away January 27 2003 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born on March 21, 1912 in Maple, Wisconsin to John Makela and Emma Olson Makela. She married Rudolph Lowney on August 4, 1930. "Nanny" was overflowing in love for family. She unselfishly gave so much throughout her life. She is survived by her three sisters; Lillian Johnson of Duluth, Minnesota, Ellen Aro of Duluth, Minnesota, Ruth Olson of North Prairie, Wisconsin, her son Douglas Lowney (wife Joyce) of Tempe, Arizona, and her daughter Kay Simon (husband Don) of Park City, Utah. Nanny has six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Her husband, Rudolph Lowney, preceded her in death. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, February 3, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at Valley of the Sun in Chandler, Arizona. Donations to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
