Jean Marie Donovan Schmitzer, passed away peacefully on Jan. 27, 2003.

Jean was born on Nov. 22, 1916 in Baltimore Township, MI. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and met her future husband, Alvin Ralph Schmitzer, while attending Battle Creek College. They were married May 4, 1939, raised their family in Battle Creek and moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1986.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and beloved grandson, Michael Donovan Schmitzer.

She is survived by her loving husband, Alvin; brothers, Russell and William Donovan; sons, David (Susan) and Richard (Wendy); daughters, Patricia Poyer, Barbara Noble and Martha (Scott) Boehme; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

The family is holding a private service to celebrate Jean's life.

Inurnment will be at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery in Phoenix.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jean's name to St. Luke's Catholic Church Building Fund, 19644 N. 7th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85027 or Battle Creek Area Catholic Schools Foundation, 63 N. 24th St, Battle Creek, MI 49015.
