The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, January 8, 2003 John Paul Bollman, 55, retired Mesa Police Sergeant, died December 31, 2002 at his home in Sun City, Arizona. He was born March 23, 1947 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. John served with the Wichita, Kansas Police Department before moving to Mesa in 1977. He joined the Mesa Police Department in 1978, was promoted to Sergeant in 1992 and served at the Falcon Field Substation as K-9 supervisor. His K-9 partner Rico retired with John in 1998, and died March 2002 in Sun City, after he and the family returned from living in Brookings, Oregon. Menke Funeral Home of Sun City, Arizona has performed the cremation, and according to John's wishes, portions of his and Rico's ashes will be placed in designated areas in Arizona and on the Pacific beach near Brookings, Oregon. There will be a memorial service at 3:00 p.m., January 11, 2003 at the Desert Heritage Church, 1020 N. Horne, Mesa, Arizona. Following the service, family and friends will meet at the F.O.P. Lodge at 1452 E. Main, Mesa, Arizona. John is survived by his wife, Robin Bollman of Sun City, his sister Sandra Kell of Mesa and his daughter Stacey Mann, and two granddaughters, Alexis and Taylor Mann of Cave Creek, Arizona.
