Cora Louisa (Lund) Myers

Cora Louisa Meyers, 93 years and 11 months of age, died peacefully on Jan. 26, 2008, in Mesa, Ariz.

Cora was born Feb. 26, 1914, in Grygla, Minn., and lived in the Grygla area until 1924, then moved to the Ponsford/ Park Rapids area, where she graduated from high school. She worked in Walker, Minn., until 1937, when she married and moved to California. Cora remained in California until 1980 when she moved to Prescott, Ariz., later moving to Apache Junction in 1993.

Cora is preceded in death by her husband, Maynard Meyers; parents Palmer and Katherine Lund; brothers Elmer Lund from Mayville, N.D., and baby Max, who lived just four days; sisters Mary Colgrove of Osage, Minn., and Esther Ruhnke of Park Rapids, Minn.

Surviving sisters are Annetta Conant Raeder of Mesa, Ariz., and Amy Allanson of Apache Junction, Ariz.; brother-in-law Robert Ruhnke of Park Rapids, Minn.

During WWII, Cora worked in a defense plant, then as a typesetter in several printing businesses, and later was self-employed.

Cora enjoyed gardening, flying, riding Harleys and driving her VW Beetle. She will always be remembered for her positive attitude, generosity, kindness and concern for others. The importance of “family” and “she loved us all dearly” will be remembered.

Cora requested no memorial service, but at a later date, her ashes will join her husband’s near Prescott, Ariz.

Melcher’s Mission Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
