The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 1, 2003 Peter Carmine Fuoco, age 60 of Mesa, Ariz., died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at University Medical Center in Tucson after a brief illness. Formerly of Westland, Mich., and Novi, Mich., Mr. Fuoco was the longtime owner of A&F Water Heater and Spa Service in Troy, Mich. He retired in 1995. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing with his granddaughters, Samantha and Madeline, and watching sporting events. He was a retired member of the Michigan Multi-Lakes Conservation Association. An advocate of organ donation, Mr. Fuoco received a heart transplant Dec. 17, 1995, at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Mich., after his heart was stricken by a virus. In the seven years he lived after his transplant, he moved to Arizona and worked tirelessly to mentor other transplant patients. In 2000 and 2002, he competed in racquetball with partner Leo Levenson, during the U. S. Transplant Games at Walt Disney World, Orlando, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Judith; daughter, Christina of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Berkley, Mich., a former reporter at the Oakland Press; son, Tony and his wife Christina of Chandler, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Samantha and Madeline Fuoco; and sisters, Marianne Madonna, Kathy Wurn and Sylvia Demers. He is predeceased by his parents Antonia and Cosimo Fuoco; sister, Loretta Mounsey; and brother Charles. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden Road.
