The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, January 8, 2003 William P. (Pat) Garrity, born June 16, 1924 in San Diego, Calif., died January 5, 2003. Pat served as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. After being discharged from service, he became principal of Loma Linda Elementary School, a position he held for 16 years. He later owned his own real estate and investment company. Pat was a lifetime member of the Boy Scouts of America, thirty-four year member of the YMCA, and listed in Who's Who In The West. He also held a private pilot's license and traveled all over the world. Pat was much loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean; daughters, Susan Garrity and Leslie Sawyer (Steve); three grandchildren, Adam Sawyer, Suzanna Schwister (Rob) and Nathan Sawyer, (Elizabeth); and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jan. A Memorial Service will be held at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, 4455 East Lincoln Drive, at 10:30am, Friday, January 10, 2003.
