Catherine M. Schmidt, 77, died peacefully in the loving - arms of her family at her son's home on the Feast of the Epiphany, January 5, 2002. Catherine was born April 25, 1925 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

She married the man of her dreams, Norbert in the spring of 1946 and enjoyed a blessed union of 54 years before Norbert preceded her in death in early 2000. They raised a family of four children and are survived by son, Thomas of Hustisford, Wisc., daughters, Cathy Kozlosky of Brookfield, Wisc., Nancy Poppe of New Berlin, Wisc., and son Timothy of Scottsdale, Az. She is further survived by 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Catherine survived many hardships throughout her life being orphaned at a young age, the death of her first child and a near fatal injury to her young husband, yet came through them stronger and more compassionate as a result.

She was among the kindest of souls and will be remembered for her sense of humor and the abundant love she poured on her children and grandchildren. We are all comforted by the knowledge that she is now at peace with her beloved husband, mama and daddy.

There will be a memorial service in Milwaukee before she is laid in her final resting place next to Norbert at the National Cemetery in Phoenix.

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in Catherine's name to the David Sherman Cancer Center c/o St Joseph Regional Medical Center, 5000 W. Chambers Street Milwaukee, Wisc., 53210.
