Winterset Madisonian April 20, 2005 John Davis, Arizona John Porter Davis, 83, of Cottonwood, Ariz., died March 29, 2005. A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, April 30 at the Congregational Christian Church in Truro. John Davis was born May 19, 1921 in Mount Ayr to Harold and Ruth Davis. He received his engineering degree from Iowa State University in 1942, where he was member of the Theta Xi Fraternity. On April 29, 1942, he married Margaret (Margie) Husted of Truro. John was involved in an engineering training program with General Electric in Fort Wayne, Ind., for a year before he entered the Air Corps, in which he served until 1945. He also worked in personnel and plant management in the machine tool industry in Chicago and Rockford, Ill. In 1977, he and his wife moved to Arkansas, where he worked for a drafting firm. In 1993, they moved to Cottonwood, Ariz. He was a volunteer at the Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Gem and Mineral Club and VVPOA. He is survived by his wife, Margie, of Cottonwood; one son, Alan Davis of Champaign, Ill,; two daughters, Nancy Melton of Des Moines and Marcia Zell of South Elgin, Ill.; and five grandchildren.
