The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 2, 2003 Ronald Harry DeVoe was born January 24, 1920 to Bertha and Charles DeVoe of Somers, MT. He was the fifth of six siblings. Mr. DeVoe passed away peacefully on January 30, 2003, surrounded by family members. After attending Montana State College, he graduated from San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. Ron served his country in the Navy during World War II. After the war, he became a mortician in Kalispell, MT. He later owned and operated DeVoe Lumber Company in Somers, MT. with his brother George, as well as managed lumber mills in White Sulphur Springs and Maudlow, MT. In 1970, he relocated his family to Phoenix, AZ where he founded DeVoe Printing Company. Ron is preceded in death by three wives, Anna Ruth Campbell, Donna Schmauch and Donna Holman. He married Paulie McDermott in 1995 and is survived by her. During his lifetime, Ron fathered five children, Virginia Gentry, Roberta Arpan, Douglas DeVoe and Daniel DeVoe of the Phoenix area and D'Ann DeVoe of Ouray, CO. He was also a father to Steven Schmauch of Spokane, WA, Nikki Reak of Tempe, AZ and David Schmauch (deceased). Through his third and fourth wives, he also had a paternal influence on Maureen Edwards and Andrea Garrett of the Phoenix area and Cheryl Holman (deceased), as well as seven other adult children. In addition to his children, Ron is survived by 27 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Mr. DeVoe's long and wonderful life will be at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave., Glendale, AZ. where the visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
