The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 2, 2003 Louie Baus Hopkins, 72, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2003. Born in Salisbury, Maryland, on 11/11/30, and most recently a resident of Sun Lakes, Arizona, he was a son of the late Louise Baus Hopkins and Lloyd Carroll Hopkins, Sr. Mr. Hopkins, a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, was a Naval Academy graduate and a Master of Science graduate of the University of Washington. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force, retiring as a Major, and had also retired from the Arizona Department of Transportation. Preceded in death by his son, Douglas, he is survived by his wife Carmela, daughter Sara Bennewitz, son-in-law Dallas Bennewitz, and two beloved grandchildren Chase and Dana Bennewitz who miss their "Papa Lou".
