Jeffrey Owen Underwood, 25, of Paradise Valley, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2003.

Jeff was born June 2, 1977 in Portland, Oregon to Jon and Tammy Underwood. He attended the University of Arizona, where he majored in Regional Development and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Those who knew Jeff witnessed his strength: of mind, spirit and body. Jeff was genuine, thoughtful, and kind and an independent thinker. He shared his gifts of creativity and a hilarious sense of humor that spanned dry wit to goofy slapstick.

Throughout his life, Jeff treasured his friendships. He enjoyed memories of good times spent with friends and was grateful for the love and support they gave him. Jeff loved sports, especially basketball, from informal pickup games to watching college games-especially the Arizona Wildcats-on TV. He enjoyed playing the drums and loved a wide variety of music. Jeff's family and friends cherish his memory.

Survivors include his parents, Jon and Tammy Underwood of Paradise Valley; sister Terrye Underwood of Los Angeles; grandmother Lila Underwood of Placentia, CA: grandmother Mella Bailey of Coronado, CA; aunt and uncles Terrye and Robert Bellas of Portola Valley, CA; cousin Erika Bellas of San Francisco, CA; cousins Tamsinn and Chris Cowart of Boulder, CO; aunt and uncle Judi and Richard Duffy of Placentia, CA; cousin Erin Duffy of Placentia, CA and cousins Christina, Rylan and Brian Duffy of Victorville, CA.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 5th at 3:00pm at St. Barnabas On The Desert, 6715 North Mockingbird Lane, Scottsdale.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Arizona Cancer Center, P.O. Box 245013, Tucson, AZ 85724-5013 or to Steele Memorial Children's Research Center, P.O. Box 245073, Tucson, AZ 85724-5073.
