The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 3, 2003 Beverly Jean Murphy, age 78, St. Johns, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2003. She joined the Army and served as a WAC during WWII. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, February 3, 2003 at the Mesa South Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at Gilbert and Southern in Mesa with a viewing one hour prior to service at the church. Interment will follow in the City of Mesa Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fletcher's Mortuary of Show Low. {Courtesy of Pat Wilson} ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 02/07/2003 Beverly Jean Murphy, 78, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003 at her home in St. Johns. Mrs. Murphy was born in Salt Lake City, Utah Sept. 17, 1924 to Anthon Heberlund and Aurelia Millburn Murphy. She graduated from East High School and University of Utah in Salt Lake City. She joined the Army and served as a WAC during WWII. She married William Henry Murphy in 1951 in Reno and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. She was a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and taught in the Relief Society and was the Drama Specialist and Genealogy Specialist for the Stakes. She was an avid Genealogist and will be missed and remembered for all the help and guidance she gave. She is survived by her children; Charis and Craig Mariger of Salt Lake City and Michele and Dale Slaker of St. Johns; her grandchildren, Brooke, Brittany and Marrissa Mariger of Salt Lake City and Kevin Slaker, Cyndie and Victor Schrapp, Belinda and Jennifer Slaker, all of St. Johns; great-grandchildren; Erich Schrapp and Gwen Schrapp, both of St. Johns; her two sisters, Joy Martin of St. George, Utah and Tonie Krainock of Mesa; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband William Henry Murphy. Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 3 at the Mesa South Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at Gilbert and Southern in Mesa. Interment will be in the City of Mesa Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fletcher's Mortuary of Show Low. |
