The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 4, 2003 Phyllis Ray, 87, of Yuma, died Jan. 30, 2003, at Yuma Regional Medical Center. A former supervisor in a cafeteria, she was born Jan. 1, 1916, in Halfway, Ore. Private cremation arrangements were handled by Kammann Mortuary. She was born January 1, 1916 in Halfway, Oregon and moved to California at the age of 6. Phyllis retired from Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California and moved with her now deceased husband Wilson Ray Sr. to Yuma, Arizona. Phyllis was a member of Morningside Southern Baptist Church and Yuma Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. Devoted mother of Larry Ray of Ripon, California. Rusty Haley of Stockton, California, Cheryl Smith of Vacaville, California and Wilson Ray Jr. of Fairfield, California, 9 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter, loving sister of Shelby F Deaderick Jr. of Mission Viejo, California. A celebration of Life will be held at Capri Park Recreational Hall, 3380 S. 4th Avenue, Yuma on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to your favorite charity.
