The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 4, 2003 Mary Christa Everett went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, February 2, 2003. Mary was a Phoenix resident most of her adult life until she moved to Prescott a year and a half ago. She was a long standing member of Palmcroft Baptist Church and resident of Broadway Terrace. She retired from Safeway as a meat wrapper in 1977. Mary was born in New Hebron, Mississippi on October 31, 1912, the daughter of Jim and Lela Myers. She was the oldest of five children, four of which preceded her in death: Ruth, Johnnie, Louise and Billy Ray. Her brother James and wife Eula live in Pearl, Mississippi. Mary married Keith Everett Sr. in 1938 and was widowed in 1961. Mary and her husband moved to Phoenix in the early 50s where they raised their family. Mary is survived by two daughters, Mary Sue Griffith of Phoenix and Tommie Peterson and son-in-law Ray of Prescott; three sons, Keith Jr., daughter-in-law Linda of Prescott, Jim and daughter-in-law Ruth of The Villages, Florida and Walter and daughter-in-law Rosalie of Lander, Wyoming. Mary is also survived by eight grandchildren, Terry and wife Christa, Cheryl, Rick, Kathy and husband Ian, Scott and wife Aurora, David, Paul and wife Mariah and Dean and wife Jamie. She also has three great-grandchildren, Kayla, Dylan, and Meredith Griffith. A chapel funeral will be held at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary Chapel on Thursday, at 11:00 a.m., 719 N. 27th Ave. Her Sunday school teacher, Don Cornelison from Palmcroft Baptist will preside over the service, grandson Paul Schumacher will ask for prayer and long-time family friend Kathy Sanzone will sing. T here will be a viewing on Wednesday evening at the Chapel from 6:00-8:00. Memorial contributions may be made to any Hospice facility. (Obit: Courtesy of Pat Wilson) |
