| The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 4, 2003 Betty Ellen Hass, 73, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2003 at Del E. Webb Memorial Hospital after a brave battle with cancer. She was born in Elmhurst, Illinois on September 11, 1929, and she remained a resident of Illinois until 1986, when she and her husband, Otto Hass, retired to Sun City West. She is survived by her devoted husband; sisters Joyce LaDeur and Marion Peters; daughter, Barbara Kmett, and son, Richard Hass. She was the loving grandmother of Lynn Kmett (deceased), Nicole Guilfoyle, Amy Kmett, Beth Hass, and Becky Hass. A memorial service will be held at Crown of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5th,[2003]. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Betty's honor to the American Cancer Society, 2929 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, Arizona 85016, Sun Health, 13180 North 103rd Drive, Sun City, Arizona 85351, or Crown of Life Lutheran Church, 13131 W. Spanish Garden Drive, Sun City West, Arizona 85375.
