Richard W. "Dick" Shannon
(July 27, 1939 - November 27, 2009)

Richard “Dick” W. Shannon, 70, died Friday, November 27th, 2009 at his home in Show Low of natural causes.
Dick was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana on July 27, 1939, to Robert and Bonnie Shannon .

He is survived by his siblings, Carol and Mike Shannon and his children, Daisy (David) Loomis of Tucson; Patrick (Brandi) Shannon of Goodyear, and Janae Shannon of Phoenix. He dearly loved his grandchildren, Alex Schjoll and Camryn Loomis of Tucson, and Bailey and Brady Shannon of Goodyear.

He grew up in Broken Arrow and graduated from Churubusco High in1957 in Indiana. He earned an Associates Degree from Purdue University, and a BS-ED from NAU. He came to Arizona in 1964 were he taught school in Flagstaff, Show Low, Blue Ridge and for many years at Theodore Roosevelt in Ft. Apache, AZ. He worked a short time as a real estate salesman in Lakeside and as a police officer for the Flagstaff and Show Low Police Departments.

While teaching in the White Mountains, he worked as an Arizona Highway Patrol Reserve Officer, and as an EMT for the Lakeside Fire Department. For many years, he was The House Detective doing home inspections and residential real estate appraisals.

He enjoyed sharing his Corgi therapy dogs, fishing, camping, traveling and church functions. He attended many Christian churches in the area.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec 5th at Grace Church, 700 S. 19th Ave., (off Hwy 260) in Show Low.
