James Dobbs (Jim) Blackmore

James "Jim" D. Blackmore, 85, of Prescott, Ariz., born May 26, 1924, in Bloomfield, Ind., passed away Nov. 29, 2009, in Prescott.

A private cremation will be at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with final arrangements.

James Dobbs Blackmore passed away Nov. 29, 2009. Jim was born in Bloomfield, Ind. to James B. Blackmore and Ruth Dobbs Blackmore.

Jim graduated from Bloomfield High School and attended Indiana University. He left college to enlist in the Air Force in 1942.

Jim was designated a pilot and commissioned to 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Air Force. He was assigned to the European Theater where he flew 35 missions. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal for actions in combat. He was Honorably discharged in December 1945.

His up beat attitude, good natured ways and sense of humor will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He never left you without saying "cheerio."

Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years Marilyn; daughters, Julie Hight and partner Mike Castellano of Huntington Beach, Calif., Mary and Frank Carone of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; and granddaughters, Lindsey, Katie and Holly.

A celebration of life will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice Family Care, 100 E. Sheldon St., Prescott, AZ 86301.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family.
