Colleen Jane (Close) Ashburst

Colleen Jane Ashurst went to be with Jesus on May 12, 2003. She was born Colleen Jane Close on March 24, 1925 in Phoenix to John Hubert Close and Rose Ellen (Waldrip) Close.

She was raised on lateral 20 and “J” Avenue, which is now called 7th Avenue and Indian School Road. She graduated from Cartwright grade school and Glendale High School. She met the love of her life, Henry Ashurst, at the Fort Whipple VA Hospital in 1947. The greatest joys in her life were her loving husband, her family and serving Jesus.
Colleen is survived by her husband, Henry Ashurst; her daughters, Shireen Eddings (Loyal) of Peoria, Laura Ashurst of Chino Valley and Jean Bowser (Ken) of Grand Canyon; and her son, Edward Ashurst (Jean Ann) of Douglas. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services for Colleen were held at the Potter’s House in Prescott on Tuesday, May 20. Graveside services will be at 11 A.m. Wednesday, May 21, at the national Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
