Jack James Scheall, 82, passed away May 9, 2003 in Prescott at Las Fuentes Care Center.
Jack was a resident of the North Ranch Escapees Park near Congress for the past eight years.

Jack was born in Saginaw, Mich., on Dec. 15, 1920. He graduated from Saginaw High School and Indiana Northern University. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater in the U. S. Army Combat Engineer Corps. He saw action in the Philippines, on Okinawa, and was in Korea for the occupation.

As a youth he became a Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Eagle Scout before becoming a professional with the Boy Scouts of America, where he served in Mt. pleasant, Mich.; Charleston, W. Va.; Georgetown, Ohio; and Lima, Ohio.
His dedicated interest in young people continued with his professional work with Junior Achievement in Indianapolis, Ind., and Wichita, Kan.

Jack was a member of various civic and service organizations and was especially devoted to the Kiwanis Club for more than 40 years. He helped organize several new clubs around the country.

After retirement, jack became a full-time RV enthusiast, traveling around the United States for eight years before settling in Arizona where he continued his interest in the Kiwanis club. It was his sense of humor that endeared him to all who met him.

After his confinement to the nursing home, he especially enjoyed attending Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wickenburg.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Norma Scheall; one son, Ted and his wife Joy, of Melbourne, Ky., two grandchildren, Carla and Steven; one great grandson, Brandon; three brothers, Raymond (Caroline) Scheall of Tucson, Frederick Porath of Saginaw, and Wesley Porath (Beverly) of Kalamazoo, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
