Delbert James Ferris, 79, of Vernon, AZ, peacefully passed away at his home February 1, 2003. He was born September 10, 1923 in Cherokee, Iowa.

He graduated from Washington high school and attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls S.D. He was a decorated WWII Navy veteran. He retired as a Supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service in Phoenix in 1981. He then volunteered his time with the D.A.V. and St. Vincent De Paul in Phoenix and Pinetop.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy, sons Dan, David (Sharon), Doug (Elizabeth), grandchildren Brent (Tara), Puna Hale, Kristen (Bill), Erin (Steve), Amanda and Katie.

Memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 6, [2003] at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Pinetop.

Internment will be held in Phoenix at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent De Paul, P.O. Box 819, Pinetop, AZ 85935 or RTA Hospice Inc., 5658 State Hwy 260, Lakeside, AZ 85929.

Delbert James Ferris, 79, of Vernon died peacefully at his home Feb. 1, 2003.
