Winterset Madisonian, Winterset, Iowa Wednesday, March 29, 2000 Garald D. Weeks, 83, of Peru died from complications of pneumonia March 14, 2000, at Yuma Regional Medical Center in Arizona. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sudday April 2, at the Peru United Methodist Church. Garald Weeks was born Jan. 9, 1917 to Aburg and Lee Etta (Furguson) Weeks of Indianola. He resided in Indianola during his youth. A World War II Army veteran, he had been a staff sergeant in the field artillery, serving four years in North Africa and Italy. He married June Brown of Truro on Dec. 8, 1942. Following his discharge from the service, Garald and June moved to Peru. He retired in 1980 from Natural Gas Pipeline Company where he had been employed for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He is survived by his wife; a sister, Ethel Long of Des Moines and several nieces and nephews. |
