The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 5, 2003 Margaret Sandoval Ortega, age 76, longtime resident of Tempe, passed away on February 2, 2003. Viewing will be at Melcher Chapel of the Roses, 43 South Stapley Drive, Mesa, on Thursday, February 6th from 5pm to 8pm with a 7pm Rosary. Mass will be at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 2121 South Rural Road, Tempe, on Friday, February 7, 2003, at 10am, following by graveside services at Queen Of Heaven Cemetery, 1500 East Baseline Road, Mesa. ----------------------- The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 6, 2003 Margaret Sandoval Ortega, age 76, longtime resident of Tempe, passed away peacefully with her grateful and proud family at her bedside on February 2, 2003. Margaret was a loving wife and mother of 8 sons and 3 daughters. She remained active throughout her life expanding her love and guidance to her 32 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Margaret carried her zest for living from her family to community service later in her life. Her lifetime wish to complete her education later helped her become the Director of the Escalante Senior Center. As the Director, she enhanced the Senior Citizen Program, including the completion of her project of a memorial statue honoring Hispanic Soliders. She also focused her civic energies on improving children's education and career opportunities for Veterans and Hispanics. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband John; sons Richard and Edward; parents Jose and Virginia Sandoval; brothers Luis and Ross Sandoval; and sister Cecilia Mesa. Margaret is survived by 9 children Billy and wife Margaret; Floyd and wife Julie; Nick and wife Barb; Steve and wife Candy; Tony and wife Sheila; Tommy; Nancy and husband Ron Parra; Josie and husband Joe Garcia and Dolores and husband Martin Olmos; grandchildren Christina, Vincent, Cecilia, Felicia, Anthony, Monica, Marina, Marcie, Ted, A.J., Nathan, Adam, Renee, Steve, Vanessa, Chawna, Ricky, Christie, Paul, Tommy, Selina, Carrah, Andrea, Jesse, Christopher, Michael, Nick, Gaby, Nancy, Jaclyn, Tatiana and Veronica; great grandchildren T.J., Kelsey, Phillip, Christopher, Anthony, Alayah, Mayah, Olivia, Aston, Patience, Jordan and Trey; sisters, Mary, Ida and their respective families; and extended family numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, friends and especially Paula, Martha, Rick, Colleen, Gabe, Eugenio and Angel. Mom NaNa Grandma: We thank you for always being loving, strong and open hearted to all of us. We will dearly miss you -- You will always be in our hearts and in our minds.
