The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 5, 2003 Velma Bowen Tucker, 82, of Mesa, passed away January 31, 2003. Born in Mesa, Mrs. Tucker taught first grade at Longfellow School for 20 years. Preceded in death by her husband, Stephen A. Tucker, she is survived by daughters, Janet Hall of Mesa and Barbara Dumont of Higley; sons, Stephen of Higley and Thomas of Mesa; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Katherine Brenner of Mesa; and brother, Jack Bowen of Oregon. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 6, at Bunker's Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way and one hour prior to services at the church. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 7, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 28th Ward, 933 E. Brown Rd., Mesa. Interment at Mesa Cemetery.
