Genevieve J. (Jensen) Jewett

Genevieve J. Jewett, 89, of Wickenburg, formerly of Madison, Wis. passed away Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 11, 1914 in Madison, Wis. to Henry and Augusta Jensen. Gen was married to Clarence "Bud" Jewett for more than 40 years.

She received her Master of Science degree in art education from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Gen taught elementary and middle school art for the Madison Metropolitan School District for 25 years, retiring in 1978. Gen and Bud retired in Sun City, Ariz.

After his death, she built her home in Wickenburg. Gen was very active in the community. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Wickenburg Art club, and volunteered over 1,000 hours at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum.

Gen is survived by her brother Wilbur (Rosemary) Jensen, a stepdaughter Marlys (Dale) Myrland, and nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988.

A memorial service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 450 Rose Lane in Wickenburg at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30. Memorials can be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society. Services have been held in Stoughton, Wis. and interment was in Roselawn Memorial Park in Madison.
