Vernon Houser Kendrick, Jr., a longtime resident of Wickenburg, died Oct. 30. He was 76. Vern was born Nov. 21, 1926 in Leesburg, Va.

He moved to Wickenburg in 1958. He was an insurance agent in Wickenburg for 30 years and a navy Veteran of World War II where he served on the YMS Arizona 299 Mine Sweeper. He was a Charter Member and three time Exalted Ruler of the Wickenburg Elks Lodge No. 2160 and a member of the American Legion Kellis Draper Post. No. 12.

He is survived by his wife Jean Kendrick; son Vernon Houser Kendrick III and daughter Helen Monn of Mesa, Ariz.; stepson R. D. Eddy (Linda) of Heber, Ariz.; brother Robert Lee Kendrick of Fort Meyers, Fla.; cousin Cecilia Hook of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other cousins in Pennsylvania.

Services will be held at fry Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. graveside services will be held at the VA National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23039 N. Cave Creek Road in Phoenix on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 12:30 p.m.

Arrangements were handled by Frey Funeral Home.
