Johnathan Osborne passed away Dec. 17, 2003. He was born Nov. 20, 1929 in Coldiron, Ky. and was a longtime resident of Covington, Ky.

Johnathan was the loving husband of Marjorie Osborne for the past 57 years and father to four daughters, Roma and Marty Hagan, Sandy and Rich Glover, Pat and John Rosendall, Lee and Brad Heard; grandfather to 12 grandchildren; 11 and one half great grandchildren; two brothers, Tommy of Covington, Ky. and Jim of Wickenburg.

Anxious to serve his country he joined the Merchant Marines at an early age and went to France. Then he joined the Army and chose to be a paratrooper serving with the 11th Airborne Division.

He moved his family from Covington, Ky. to Phoenix in 1964. Nine years later he and his wife moved to the historic Vulture Gold Mine in Wickenburg, Ariz. to become managers. They were the only two residents the majority of their 32 years living there.

Besides being proud of his family and serving time in the military, he was proud of becoming a Kentucky Colonel in 1984.

As a historian of The Vulture Gold Mine he was quoted and written about in many publications including Arizona Highways, the Arizona Republic, numerous local and national news programs and was co-author of the book "The Vulture."

He was preceded in death by his mother Lila Osborne, father Sylus Osborne, sister Vivian Osborne and grandson Jason Hagan.

All who knew him are invited to a memorial/celebration of his life starting at 11 a.m. at The Vulture Gold Mine on Dec. 27.
